Bergersen signs to play for BYU basketball

PROVO, Utah – BYU coach Dave Rose announced today that Rylan Bergersen has signed a National Letter of Intent and will play for the Cougars in 2017-18.
Bergersen, a 6-foot-6 guard from Boise, Idaho, prepped at Borah High School before reclassifying and playing the 2016-17 season at Link Year in Branson, Missouri.
“We are really excited to welcome Rylan to our program,” Rose said. “Rylan has a great feel for the game. He can shoot the ball, put it on the floor and make plays, and has a tremendous toughness and work ethic.”
During his final season at Borah High in 2015-16, Bergersen averaged 15.5 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.4 blocks and 2.3 assists per game while shooting 53 percent from the floor and 41 percent from 3-point range. Coached by Cary Cada, Bergersen led Borah (23-3) to the semifinals of the 5A state tournament and a win in the consolation game. Following the season he was named first-team all-state by the Idaho Statesman.
At Link Year in 2016-17, Bergersen was coached by Antonio McKenzie. He averaged 18 points, five rebounds and three assists while shooting 42 percent from 3.
