Branson educator named Missouri Regional Teacher of the Year

BRANSON MO NEWS: Shannon Pagan, fourth grade teacher at Buchanan Intermediate School, Branson.(Photo: Submitted Photo)Shannon Pagan, a fourth-grade teacher at Buchanan Intermediate School, has been named a Missouri Regional Teacher of the Year for the southwest district. She has been an elementary teacher for 29 years with eight of those in the Branson School District. Pagan is also a Branson High School graduate.The Missouri Teacher of the Year program is sponsored by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. The program recognizes the efforts of effective teachers in providing a quality education to their students.“We are extremely proud of Mrs. Pagan,” stated Brad Swofford, district superintendent, in a press release. “The selection committee recognized something we already know. She is a great teacher and has had a tremendous impact on the lives of her students. We are fortunate to have her in our district.”Pagan is eligible to compete for the Missouri Teacher of the Year. The selection committee, comprised of teachers, business and education leaders, will make a selection following interviews with each regional finalist this fall. The winner and the finalists will be honored at a banquet held in Jefferson City in October.
