Branson Price Chopper to Promote Local Recycling Services This Weekend

BRANSON, Mo – The City of Branson is partnering with Branson’s Rhodes Family Price Chopper to promote recycling over Labor Day weekend by handing out local recycling information with every grocery purchase this weekend. While the City of Branson provides 24/7 recycling at two locations and takes in over a million pounds of recycling every year, not everyone knows those recycle opportunities exist. The City of Branson is always looking for ways to let residents and guests know about recycling services. It’s an information gap that Rhodes Family Price Chopper is happy to help fill.

“We are a hometown, full-service store, and one of the benefits we can provide to our visitors and residents is a “How-to-Recycle in Branson” guide as we bag their groceries,” said store owner Drew Rhodes. “At Rhodes Family Price Chopper we value being a positive impact on our community; recycling helps us do that. Our Branson store recycles 84 tons of cardboard every year. That’s about the same weight as the space shuttle Endeavour. We can make it easier for our customers to recycle, too,” Rhodes said.

Recycling is available in Branson anytime, day or night at two 24-hour self-service recycling centers:

·         550 Compton Drive, north of Branson Landing – staffed from 7-2, Monday through Saturday, for those who prefer assistance unloading their recyclables.

·         Branson United Methodist Church, 1208 W. Hwy 76, next to the helicopter at the Veterans Museum.

All paper, cardboard, cans, glass and plastic bottles are accepted for recycling.  No need to remove any labels, but rinsing containers prevents odors.  To download a picture guide of recyclables, go to www.bransonmo.gov and search “recycling.”

“Citizens and visitors want easy, convenient recycling and we continually try to upgrade our services to meet their needs.   We’re proud to work with Price Chopper to make this information easier to find,” said City of Branson Environmental Specialist, Mona Menezes.
