Branson’s police chief takes on new role with the city

BRANSON NEWS: BRANSON, Mo. (NEWS RELEASE) — The City of Branson’s Board of Aldermen have promoted Stanley Dobbins from police chief to city administrator.
The promotion takes effect on January 1, 2018. Mr. Dobbins has served in dual roles as both the interim city administrator as well as police chief since May 24, 2017, following the departure of former city administrator William Malinen.
“The Board of Aldermen selected Stan Dobbins to fill the role of City Administrator because of the excellent leadership skills he exhibited while serving in dual roles of Interim City Administrator and Chief of Police since May 2017,” said Mayor Karen Best. “He knows the goals of the community, City staff, and the Board of Aldermen; therefore, he can hit the ground running. Most importantly for me, Interim City Administrator Dobbins LOVES Branson and is proud to call it home. He is committed to economic development, safety and security, fiscal responsibility, and preserving the legacy of the Ozarks.”
Interim city administrator and Chief Dobbins said, “I am truly humbled to be selected to serve this great community that I have come to love and am proud to call home. The citizens of this community are like family to me, and I have taken great pride in maintaining the safety of both our residents, businesses and guests. I look forward to my new role here at the city, and the task of working with the mayor, board, city employees, residents, and visitors to this wonderfully unique community to make it a great place to visit, live, and work.”

The city will soon begin a nationwide search for a new police chief to fill Dobbins’ vacancy once he assumes that role of city administrator in January.
