BRANSON MISSOURI NEWS: Briar Cliff’s Nic Nelson has been named the recipient of the NAIA/National Sports Foundation “All That’s Right in Sport” Award.

Briar Cliff men’s basketball head coach Nic Nelson has been named the recipient of the 2016 NAIA/National Sports Foundation “All That’s Right in Sport” Award.The National Sportsmanship Foundation and the NAIA partner annually to honor one NAIA institution, team or individual for actions in NAIA competition that are clear demonstrations of extraordinary sportsmanship. Nelson was nominated for the award for his and his team’s work with Trevor Welp, a local child who has now been a part of the Charger basketball team since 2011, when he was just 10 years old.“We are extremely proud of Nic and his teams for the way they used athletics to live and model the Franciscan value of a Caring Community,” stated Briar Cliff athletic director Steve Gast. “On his own, Nic reached out to someone in need and quickly made him a significant part of his basketball community.
