BYU Men’s Hoops: Prep school coach says Bergersen is ready to help Cougars

BRANSON MO NEWS: The basketball court at Link Year Prep School in Branson, Mo., is equipped with cameras. Most evenings during the past season, Link Year head coach Antonio McKenzie would look up at the monitors in his office and see Rylan Bergersen working on his game.The 6-foot-6 Bergersen, who signed a letter of intent this week to play at BYU next season, averaged 18 points per game and shot 42 percent from distance with Link Year. The team finished with a 30-10 record, playing a schedule of some NAIA and other post-grad schools, but heavy on junior college programs in Oklahoma, Missouri and Kansas.Link Year is a nine-month post-high school program designed to build a solid foundation in leadership, spiritual growth and education, according to its website.
Bergersen was Idaho 5A Player of the Year at Boise Borah High School in 2016 and was offered a scholarship by Dave Rose last summer. But Bergersen had already committed to play at Link Year and stuck to that decision, which was intended to help him improve and mature his game.After a successful season at Link Year, Bergersen was offered again by BYU, but was also considering interest in Hawaii, Santa Clara, DePaul and …
