C of O’s Johnson honored by Missouri Hall

BRANSON MO NEWS: College of the Ozarks junior Cassidy Johnson was recognized with a Special Achievement Award by the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame during its induction ceremonies on Jan. 28.The Hall honored Johnson for her selection as an NCCAA first team All-American for the 2016-17 season.Johnson started all 33 games and led the Lady Bobcats in scoring (14.4 ppg), shooting 43 percent from the field, 40 percent from 3-point range and 83 percent from the free-throw line. She ranked No. 7 nationally in NAIA Division II in 3-pointers made.

This season, Johnson is averaging a team-high 16.6 points per game and is shooting 44 percent from the field. Her 79 made 3-pointers rank fifth nationally, and the Lady Bobcats are 24-1 and ranked No. 3 in NAIA Division II.Lady Bobcats add commit: Clare Shetley of Sullivan High School has verbally committed to continue her basketball career at College of the Ozarks.Shetley is a 6-foot forward who is averaging 13.8 points and 7.6 rebounds per game, shooting 53 percent from the field and 35 percent from 3-point range.Sullivan entered last weekend with a 15-2 overall record and a No. 4 state ranking in Class 4.Shetley joins Michelle Gabani of Bolivar, Annie Noah of Gainesville and Hannah Pfeifer of Mountain Home, Arkansas, for the 2018-19 class.
