BRANSON MO NEWS:
Branson, Mo – The Branson Police Department announced they will be purchasing and training a new police K-9, thanks to a generous $20,000 donation from the local Vietnam Veterans Association Post 913.Every year the Vietnam Veterans Association identifies a special project to support. This year they chose to support the Branson Police Department’s K-9 program which already has one K-9 officer, Officer Tygo, and his handler Officer Frank Hirahara. This is the largest donation Post 913 has ever provided. Not only will an additional K-9 benefit the Branson community, it will be an additional resource for Taney County. Besides the Missouri State Highway Patrol, The Branson Police Department has the only K-9 in Taney County and is often called out to help other agencies.K-9 officers are a tremendous asset and assert a sublime amount of energy when they work. Therefore they need the proper rest and time off, especially when they work in extreme weather conditions. There are times when Officer Tygo can’t work because he needs to be taken care of properly. Having another K-9 will allow the Branson Police Department to always have a dog team at the ready. The Branson Police Department would like to thank the Vietnam Veterans Association for their donation and is now in the process of planning and preparing for an additional K-9 team. Media Release
