Firefighters contain commercial fire in Kirbyville

BRANSON MO NEWS: Several area firefighter departments responded to a commercial fire in Kirbyville Thursday night, and two firefighters suffered minor injuries.

Training Officer for Central Taney County Fire Protection District Jeff Romines said the crews responded to multiple fire alarms at a quilt warehouse, Victorian Heart Company, on Missouri 76, around 8:40 p.m. Thursday. The quilt factory did not have a sprinkler system, Romines said.

Romines said the first firefighter crew on scene saw a small flame, or hot spot, on the top backside of the building. Crews tried to attack the fire from the inside several times, but due to the severity of the smoke and heat, firefighters had to control the fire from the outside.

From the buildup and the spread of fire, “the integrity of the structure was compromised, the framing and the ceiling and the roof and everything else, so we had to go to a more external or a defensive mode,” Romines said.

According to Romines, it took about three hours to get the fire under control with help from Central Taney County Fire Protection District, Western Taney County Fire Protection District, Forsyth Fire Department, Branson Fire & Rescue, Southern Stone Fire Department and mutual aide workers …
