Flooding runoff up north apt to be seen in south Louisiana

Weather, more stormy rainy weather than anyone seemed prepared for, drenched the Mississippi River valley recently, and it’s not hurricane season yet.The worst of the flooding seems to have been well to the north, Arkansas and Missouri, about the same area we drove through, traveling to and from Branson, Missouri, last month.These were the flat farmlands whose soils were delivered as silt over years of river flooding. Now, the rivers, swollen by intense rainfall, have risen again, and farms, residences and businesses are in danger. Keep in mind that much of that water will continue to run off, and south Louisiana is apt to see the annual spring flooding that results from snow melt further upstream, augmented by all this rain water.Be ready to watch river levels on the local television news and perhaps to see a few road road closures here and there.Houma little theatre: Holding season tickets is the equivalent of being a voting member of Le Petit Theatre de Terrebonne.
