Funeral set for Missouri Valley man found dead after fire; investigation continues

Authorities continue to investigate a fire that killed two in Missouri Valley.Chad Stevens and Stacy Larsen were both found dead after the fire on Nov. 23 at CTI Electronics at 204 Erie St. The fire was reported around 7:45 a.m. that morning.Both died from smoke inhalation and thermal injuries.John Ticer, special agent with the Iowa State Fire Marshal’s Office, said Monday that the fire is still under investigation as the office works to determine a cause. He said the office continues to interview people related to the matter and a number of items from the building are being tested at state labs.The Fire Marshal’s Office is also awaiting toxicology reports on both Larsen and Stevens. Ticer said no indication of foul play has been found at this time.CTI Electronics was an electronics recycling and repair shop. Tracy Scott, owner of the building where the fire occurred, said Stevens was a security guard for the business.

A funeral service was held for Stevens, 44, in Mondamin on Friday. An obituary on the Fouts Funeral Home of Woodbine website noted Stevens graduated from West Harrison High School in Mondamin in 1993 and “loved to fish, hunt and to simply be in the outdoors.”The Logan Memorial Funeral Chapel announced last week that services for Larsen, 44, will be held at a later date at Branson Cemetery in Loveland.A Go Fund Me, set up in her name, has been made to help her family with funeral expenses.
