BRANSON MO NEWS: COLUMBUS — George Beard, 91, of Columbus, died Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2017, at Brookestone Acres in Columbus.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 20, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus. Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. Sunday, with a 5 p.m. vigil, and 8:30-10 a.m. Monday, all at McKown Funeral Home in Columbus. Interment will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery in Columbus with military honors by the American Legion Hartman Post 84 Honor Guard.
George Kenneth Beard was born May 25, 1925, in New Site, Mississippi, to Eddie F. and Lula (Isbell) Beard. He attended schools in Iuka, Mississippi, until enlisting in the Army Air Corps in 1943. George was united in marriage to Anna Marie Greisen on March 2, 1946, in Omaha. George was discharged in 1953 then re-enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1956 and served until 1966. George worked for D & L for 21 years until retiring in 1988. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. George enjoyed fishing, hunting and woodworking.He is survived by his son, John Beard of Branson, Missouri; daughter, Georgia Beard of Omaha; son, Robert Beard of Lafayette, Colorado; son, Douglas Beard of Columbus; grandsons, Justin, Brian and Brandon Beard; great-grandsons, Braedon, Chase, Trevor and …
