Governor makes appearance in Branson

BRANSON MO NEWS: Missouri’s newest governor made an appearance in Branson Tuesday, June 12, as part of a statewide Listening Tour.Mike Parson, the former lieutenant governor who was sworn into office after the resignation of former Gov. Eric Greitens, met with city officials, local leaders and business owners to share his perspective on the pressing issues for the state and hear concerns from those in attendance.In addition to Branson, Parson’s trip includes stops in Springfield, Carthage, St. Joseph, Kansas City, Columbia, Cape Girardeau, Sikeston and St. Louis. Parson said he wanted to ensure a smooth transition from Greitens.

“It’s important to me to get out and understand the issues we’re going to be facing in each and every community we’re going to be visiting the next couple of days,” Parson said. “Then take that back and figure out how we proceed forward to make it better and work with you.”Looking ahead, Parson said two of his main priorities for the state include infrastructure and workforce.“We have to do something about the state of Missouri with our infrastructure if we plan to grow the state of Missouri and take care of the Missourians that are here.,” Parson said. “We just cannot keep kicking this can down the road saying ‘we need to do something, we need to do something.’ So one of the things we’re going to try is to make sure that gets completed, and we do something with our highways, and our bridges, our rail and our ports.
