Governor’s Tourism Conference Discusses Marketing With Limited Budget

BRANSON, Mo.- Groups from across the Show-Me State gathered at the Branson Convention Center Wednesday for the Governor’s Tourism Conference.Attendees shared their ideas for brining in more tourists, and their dollars, to Missouri.Dan Lennon, the Director of the Missouri Division of Tourism says last year was the biggest year for the state as far as tourism is concerned.”What we’ve had to do with that is continue our cooperative marketing matching programs with our destinations, which is part of what we do,” said Lennon.He hopes conferences like this one help build off past successes, even with fewer funds.”We’re still going to be marketing in about nine states, even with our limited budget,” he said.  “We have had to drop some of our television component, but we will still be strong in print and social.”    Wednesday’s conference involved seminars and lots of break-out sessions for those in attendance.
