BRANSON MO NEWS: In a case involving a professor who wanted to carry a gun on MU’s campus, a Boone County Circuit Court judge ruled Wednesday that the campus ban on firearms doesn’t violate state statute. The case dates back to 2015 when MU School of Law professor Royce Barondes sued the University of Missouri System over its policy prohibiting the concealed carry of firearms.

Because of this, Harris decided the UM System is not in violation of the statute. However, the question of whether the school’s firearm policy violates the state constitution will be decided at a later date, Harris wrote in his ruling.Barondes said he was happy the constitutional question will still be considered.
