LOCAL BRIEFS: MU wrestler Miklus to transfer to Iowa State
BRANSON MO NEWS: Miklus, who is from Altoona, Iowa, finished eighth at the NCAA Tournament this season and is a three-time All-American. Miklus attended Southeast Polk High School in Pleasant Hill, Iowa, less than 50 miles from Iowa State’s campus in Ames.The Tigers’ 197-pounder told the Register he made the decision to join the Cyclones so he can be closer to home. Miklus’ father suffers from ALS, so the wrestler’s transfer will grant him more time with his family, Miklus told ABC 17’s Andrew Kauffman on Thursday.
Two MU athletes compete for respective national teamsMissouri women’s soccer’s Zoe Cross and Missouri women’s basketball’s Emmanuelle Tahane are competing for their respective national teams in their respective sports this summer.Cross is one of 25 players on the preliminary England U-20 Women’s National Team. The team will be cut to 21 players by July 16, when the team starts its training camp.

If Cross makes the cut, she will compete with England in the FIFA Women’s U-20 World Cup, which takes place Aug. 5-24 in France. England is in Group B, along with North Korea, Brazil and Mexico.Tahane is competing with the French U-20 Women’s National Team.
