BRANSON MO NEWS: An amendment to a planned development at Point Royale will allow for the development of a massage establishment. According to Joel Hornickel, director of planning and development for the city, the Point Royale Planned Development was approved in 2001 and had one subsequent amendment in 2007.“There are two commercial areas within the planned development,” Hornickel said. “Very near (Missouri) 165 … one of which we have a business owner who would like to operate a personal service, a massage establishment, within this business.”

The current planned development, Hornickel said, prohibits such an establishment from the businesses.Hornickel said an amendment to the zoning would allow a wide variety of personal services at the development including barber shops, spas, dry cleaners, studios for art or fitness and tattoo parlors.“We simplified it to allow all the other uses that would go along with that,” Hornickel said.

Additionally, Hornickel said the city’s planning commission heard from the business owner and representatives of Point Royale and recommended approval. The Branson Board of Aldermen approved the motion on first reading Tuesday by a 6-0 vote.
