Mayor responds to marketing request for Christmas season

BRANSON MO NEWS: In light of public comments spoken at a Sept. 27 Branson Board of Aldermen meeting, Mayor Karen Best posted a status on Facebook addressing the Ozark Mountain Christmas marketing proposal.

Seven members representing local theaters and the Branson Show League spoke during public comment at a Sept. 27 Board of Alderman meeting about what they say is a lack of marketing and promotion of Ozark Mountain Christmas shows over the past few years by the Branson/Area Lakes Chamber of Commerce & Convention and Visitor’s Bureau. Best was absent from that meeting.

In efforts to promote Ozark Mountain Christmas, Cindy Merry, board member and chair of the marketing team for the Branson Show League said members of the league developed ideas on how to promote Ozark Mountain Christmas.

The campaign ideas include the creation of videos, promotions and advertisements at the Branson Imax Entertainment Complex; having a two-page spread in Missouri Life magazine; conducting a 16-week campaign in local and surrounding city newspapers; television ads; postcards; business cards and internet ads, according to Merry. The total cost of the marketing program amounts to $184,400 and Merry asked the city for $150,000 to help pay for some of the marketing efforts.
