Missouri football releases virtual tour of Memorial Stadium south end zone facility
BRANSON MO NEWS: Missouri football fans got a virtual tour of the new Memorial Stadium south end zone facility in a video released Wednesday by MU Athletics.The video, tweeted out from the Missouri football team’s Twitter account, takes fans through the $98 million facility, which is scheduled to be completed before the Tigers’ 2019 season begins.
“I believe that this facility will have a lasting impact on our football program for the next 40 years, if not longer,” Missouri coach Barry Odom said in an Aug. 25 news release from the athletic department. “It’s that impactful.”Missouri is making a bold statement with today’s announcement, and I am confident that it not only will pay big dividends in recruiting, but it will help improve our game-day atmosphere throughout the stadium.” The virtual tour spotlighted key portions of the new facility, which will replace the Mizzou Athletics Training Complex as the football team’s hub. Highlights include a new weight room and locker room, a nutrition center and hydrotherapy recovery pools and “The Bunker Club,” a 750-person field-level seating area where fans can greet the team as players run out onto Faurot Field on Saturdays. The seating area draws comparisons to what’s seen at the Dallas Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Along with the facility’s 16 new suites and an indoor club area, another 1,324 general seats will be made available in the new facility, replacing the 10,800 general admission seats that were previously in the south end zone. Although a direct comparison to AT&T Stadium is most noticeable, Kansas City-based architect firm Populous worked on the Atlanta Braves’ SunTrust Park and Yankee Stadium.
