BRANSON MO NEWS: (Festus, MO) — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a woman, accusing her of shooting her live-in boyfriend to death. Forty-eight-year-old Laurel Leeker told police someone entered their Hillsboro home while she was in the shower. She said that person shot 49-year-old Steven Pettit, who was found lying in his bed. The incident happened in Festus August 17th. Police arrested Leeker a week later. She is being held in the Jefferson County Jail, charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action.

(Columbia, MO) — Construction work on or near the University of Missouri campus will cause slowdowns when tens of thousands of college football fans come to Columbia for the season opener Saturday. Eleven projects are underway at the same time. The city says the work will make Saturdays safer when it’s done. Renovated portions of Providence Road may actually make things better by increasing its capacity. Much of the work is scheduled to be complete by early fall.
(Florissant, MO) — Florissant police are looking for a purse snatching suspect who drove his car over the 89-year-old victim outside a grocery store. The elderly woman suffered multiple broken bones and is in serious condition. Police say they are looking for a black man driving an older model Ford Freestyle minivan with a white female passenger. Witnesses say the passenger jumped out of the moving vehicle, grabbed the woman’s purse and quickly got back in the minivan as it drove away.(Branson, MO) — Two vehicles from the “Ride the Ducks” attraction in Branson are being sent with a crew to Houston to help with flood rescue efforts. Ride the Ducks provided similar aid to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina in 2005. The ducks are much more versatile than traditional boats because they can operate on land and in the …
