Missouri’s low marks in safety hurt road-trip potential
BRANSON MO NEWS: Last week, this bureau reported that Missouri was near the bottom of the 50 states — No. 43, to be exact — when it came to the safest states in the U.S.Coming in at No. 34, Missouri was significantly skewered in the ranking for its safety, clocking in at No. 46.
In this case, safety was determined by not only traffic accidents and fatalities, but also by violent crime, car thefts and road quality.The state showed strong in the cost category, ranking No. 12 for its low prices for gas, camping fees, toll-roads and auto repairs.

Missouri came in the middle of the pack for activities, No. 29. This category took into account parks, amusement parks, zoos, festivals and nightlife.The best states for road trips: Wyoming, North Carolina, Minnesota, Texas and Florida.The worst: New Mexico, Hawaii, Delaware (at least it’s short), Connecticut and Rhode Island (even shorter).
