BRANSON MO NEWS: Saturday was a busy day for Mizzou football recruiting. The Tigers picked up a verbal commitment for the 2019 class and saw its first pledge jump to a conference rival. Shamar Nash, a four-star wide receiver from Memphis who moved to Florida for high school, first verbally committed to Mizzou back in February, but that didn’t stop him from looking elsewhere. Nash visited Arkansas this weekend and on Saturday posted a video on Twitter showing him at the Razorbacks’ facility and announcing his change of plans. He also posted a long message saying, “This isn’t anything against the university (sic) of Missouri by any means. But just simply a decision I’m making for myself. I hope that you find understanding in the decision I’m making.” Nash, now playing at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., is rated the nation’s the No. 40 wide receiver for 2019 by 247Sports.com. He also holds offers from Auburn, Florida, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Tennessee and South Carolina.

MU got better news from running back Anthony Watkins from Fort Worth, Texas. The three-star prospect from South Hills High School announced his commitment to Missouri on Twitter. He also holds Power 5 offers from Baylor and Texas Tech. He’s rated the nation’s No. 98 safety by 247Sports and an unranked two-star athlete by Rivals.com.That puts Mizzou’s commitment count for 2019 at three, joining Aidan Harrison, a defensive back from Flushing, Mich., and Jack Buford, an offensive lineman from Lutheran North in St. Louis.
