Branson, Mo, April 2017–TCAD Paramedics is recognized by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services as an Emergency Medical Service for Children (EMS-C) for our efforts to provide the best possible care to pediatric patients in Taney County. TCAD has concluded a year-long project to upgrade our pediatric response by investing in the Handtevy Pediatric System. TCAD Paramedics join other agencies like the Cleveland Clinic, St. Louis Fire, Kansas City Fire and the Disney Cruise Line currently using the Handtevy System.
The Handtevy Pediatric System will ensure we can provide the highest quality care to our youngest and most vulnerable patients. The new system, combined with improved pediatric protocols, helps paramedics treat our pediatric patients. According to studies, medication errors occur in almost 35% of the pediatric patients treated in the United Staes. Traditional protocols use complex algorithms to calculate medication dosages. The Handtevy Pediatric System uses the patient’s age to simplify medication dosing. “Calculating pediatric medication doses can be difficult for the most experienced medical providers. The Handtevy Pediatric System takes all of the guess work out of pediatric dosing,”  says Johnathan Tudor, TCAD Paramedics Public Information Officer.
