New King crowned: Cote Deonath takes the title in Tupelo’s Tribute Artist Competition

BRANSON MO NEWS: TUPELO – Five Elvis Presley Tribute Artists channeled the king’s energy to battle it out at this year’s Tribute Artist Competition.Cote Deonath, a 20-year-old from Ocala, Florida, took the lead this year and the fans went wild.“I honestly feel like I am in a dream,” Deonath said.

He said he competed last year and placed second – a place he would have been happy with this year.His career, he said, began early.“My grandmother sat me down and showed me ‘Follow That Dream’ and I was hooked,” said Deonath. “I had my first live performance when I was 5, so I’ve been performing now for 15 years.”He said he came to Tupelo and saw Brandon Bennett, the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist in 2008, and knew he wanted to be up on that stage.The champion said he gets some time to relax before heading to Memphis to compete for Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist.“I really get to enjoy Elvis Week for the first time in my career,” Deonath said.He placed in the top 10 at last year’s Memphis competition.Deonath said Elvis is his idol and someone he looked up to as a kid.“I thought …
