On the Air: Morgan Ganem joins 106.9 K-Hits

When Morgan Ganem started his own internet radio station, he had no idea he would be a DJ on one of the top radio stations in Tulsa.A Sand Springs musician and DJ, Morgan was recently hired to be the weekend DJ on 106.9 K-Hits, and he’s already getting familiar with being on air.“It’s been about four weeks,” Morgan said. “It’s really brand new.”However, he is familiar with being a DJ after starting his own internet radio station, but his format was a bit different than what he is doing now. It was a cross between a podcast and a radio station. Morgan discussed the music he liked and some of the history behind it for a podcast-type feel, but he also played songs, making it more of a hybrid, podcast-radio show.“I decided to start my own radio show called ‘Morgan Ganem on the Air’ and I really just did it to have another platform where I could introduce music to my fan base. Not only my music but other top hits that where happening at the time. I was also listening to the big DJs out there and I thought ‘I could do that.’ So, I decided to give it a shot,” Morgan said.Little did he know, he was training himself to do that job he has now at K-Hits. Now, the format is way more structured and he’s learning on the job. Austin Lubeck has been a big influence and a big help, showing Morgan the ropes at the station.Morgan has grown up around music thanks to having a professional musician for a father. I.J.
