BRANSON MO NEWS: Jimmy Olsen accepts food donation from Mayor Karen Best of Branson(Photo: submitted photo)Generous food donations from local communities in support of the Ozark Mountain Media Group Fall Food Drive has raised more than 55,000 pounds of food in 10 days benefiting local pantries in Missouri and Arkansas. The goal was to collect 20,000 pounds.From Oct. 13 to Oct. 23, 102.9 The Z and KHOZ personality Lisa Johnson and online radio DJ Jimmy Olson slept, worked, broadcast and accepted non-perishable food donations while living in large storage containers. The containers, provided by Mobile Mini Solutions, were simultaneously located on the parking lots of Wal-Mart in Harrison, Arkansas; and, Wal-Mart Supercenter in Branson.Loni and Courtney Griffith make a food donation in Harrison. Connie Bailey with Ozark auto Body and Towing (Photo: submitted photo)Johnson undeniably won the battle of the sexes by raising 46,000 of pounds of food in Harrison while Olson raised 9,000 pounds in Branson. Johnson said in a news release that the hardest part was being away from her family for that length of time. However, she was not surprised by the giving community contributing over 46,000 pounds of food for seniors and children. She also said that she would absolutely do this again.Olson said, “The toughest part about the Fall Food Drive in Branson were the weather changes; i.e., heat and humidity the first couple of days then the 30-degree drop the first weekend with high winds, then a weather front moved in with a fury of rain and hail, then cold with no heater or blanket. Not feeling my toes one morning was scary. The final weekend had 60 mile per hour wind gusts violently lifting the tent up and down and that was definitely the scariest time.”All of the donations in Arkansas were delivered to The Food Bank of …
