Rock Bridge defensive back picks Mizzou
BRANSON MO NEWS: UPDATED 4:15 p.m.COLUMBIA, MO. • A day after attending Missouri’s Night At the ZOU recruiting event, Rock Bridge High’s Martez Manuel gave the Tigers a verbal commitment, announcing his pledge with a video posted Sunday on Twitter. Later in the day, Mizzou picked up a second commitment, landing four-star New Jersey tight end/wide receiver Charles Njoku, the younger brother of Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku, a 2017 first-round draft pick from Miami. Charles, rated New Jersey’s 11th-best prospect by Rivals.com, had Mizzou in his top five, along with Syracuse, Rutgers, Boston College and Wake Forest. Njoku (6-5, 205 pounds) caught 26 passes for 493 yards and four touchdowns last year for Wayne Hills High. He could play receiver or tight end for the Tigers.

“They said it depends on how much weight I put on the first year,” Njoku told NJ.com. “They want me as a tight end but it depends on my weight. If I don’t put on enough weight, they will use me as a receiver.”Manuel, a three-star defensive back and track and field standout, chose his hometown school over Iowa State and Wyoming. He also holds an offer from Michigan State and a handful of schools outside of the Power 5 conferences.
