Trial set for two Missouri men, one ‘on shrooms,’ accused of dragging kitten with Jeep

Accused of dragging a “scared” kitten to death with a Jeep in a case that horrified people across the country, two Branson, Mo., men have been ordered to stand trial.

The Springfield News-Leader reports that a judge bound Kyle Williams and Jordan Hall over for trial Thursday. Investigators said Williams had a kitten, named Tuffy, which he described as “sickly” and was looking up ways to kill.

Branson police Officer Dale Burnett said a friend of the men came up with the idea of tying the cat’s neck to the bumper of a Jeep and gunning the engine. Police were called after video was posted online of people laughing as the cat was dragged.

Williams allegedly posted the video of the torture showing people laughing as the cat “tossed and turned” behind the Jeep.

Detective Nathan Arnett, who interviewed Williams in jail after he was arrested, told the court that Williams confessed to being “on shrooms” — an apparent reference to hallucinogenic mushrooms — and using a rock to smash in Tuffy’s head after dragging the cat didn’t kill it, according to the News-Leader.

A third Branson police officer, Jesse Wilcox, said Williams admitted he “got wasted” before the cat was killed.Police believe Hall drove the Jeep. Members of a private Facebook group called Cellulites: Salvation were furious after Williams allegedly posted a photo of himself next to the tortured, bloodied kitten, one eye popped out of its head, the newspaper reported.The caption allegedly read, “Try to guess how I killed my cat, bet you can’t.”Members of the group across the country were so outraged that some worked hours to track down information about Williams through his social media activities.
