The Bluestem volleyball finished the 2016 season in seventh place in the Tri-Valley League with a record of 7-30. The Lions are hoping to improve that mark this season with five returning varsity players. Addyson Emmons (junior), Natalie Bevan (junior), Paige Fisher (junior), Paiton Haga (sophomore) and Emma Young (sophomore) were all starters on last year’s team and will be back to make contributions to the team’s success this season.
“The main area of focus we will be working on before games start is finding the right balance of players on the floor,” said head coach Kasie Kiefer.
“We have some tremendous talent, but need to decipher who plays the best in which positions and with the right people. We will also be really working on finishing our plays.”
Bluestem had a volleyball camp in July, and also took ten girls to Branson, Missouri this summer for a tournament to help prepare for the season. The Lions will open the 2017 season on Tuesday, Aug 29 at home against Berean Academy and Burden-Central.
