Weeping Water band performs in Branson

BRANSON NEWS: BRANSON, Mo. – Weeping Water band students aced the biggest test of their musical careers during a trip to one of the country’s top entertainment destinations.WWHS students traveled to Branson, Mo., for a full slate of activities May 21-23. The Indians performed songs in front of more than 1,000 people and met members of one of Branson’s most popular groups. Weeping Water Instrumental Music Director Kevin White said he felt students composed a large number of melodious memories during their time in southern Missouri.“We did a lot of things in a short amount of time, so it was a really good experience for everyone,” White said. “Only two students out of the 27 who performed had ever been to Branson before, so it was really neat for everyone from that standpoint alone. To be able to play on the stage that we did made it an even better experience for them.”
Weeping Water students learned earlier this school year that they had been selected to appear as the opening act for The Haygoods show. The Haygoods have performed in Branson for more than 25 years and attract thousands of people to their programs. Weeping Water administrators and school board members gave their approval for the trip after White gave them details about the opportunity.The Indians finished their academic year May 18 and departed for Branson May 21. Students boarded a school bus in Weeping Water and White got behind the wheel for a trip that lasted approximately 7 1/2 hours. Branson is located in the Ozark Mountains near the border of Missouri and Arkansas.White said he and all of the students were grateful for the support they received from several local parents.
