BRANSON MO NEWS: Kansas State’s secondary will be thinner for the foreseeable future.Starting strong safety Denzel Goolsby sat out Saturday’s victory over Texas-San Antonio with an undisclosed injury. Goolsby was seen wearing a sling around his left arm at the K-State soccer team’s match against Missouri State on Friday. After Saturday’s win, head coach Bill Snyder said he wasn’t sure how long Goolsby would be out.

“It’ll be a period of time yet,” Snyder said. “He’s not going to get back right away.”Goolsby, a junior from Wichita, was named the Cactus Bowl defensive MVP last season. He had nine tackles through the first two games this season, third-most on the team. With Goolsby unavailable, senior Eli Walker stepped into the lineup alongside free safety Kendall Adams. Walker finished with five tackles, including one for loss, in the victory.

A junior-college transfer from Ardmore, Oklahoma, McGee was credited with a game-high four passes defended in the opener versus South Dakota.Snyder said McGee likely would return at some point this season. He just has no idea when.”Only because I don’t know yet,” Snyder said. “It kind of depends on his recovery rate.”
