BRANSON MO NEWS: Work on the Bull Shoals Lake bridge replacement project is progressing smoothly, according to Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) engineers.

Johnny Teegardin, resident engineer with MoDOT, said the project has experienced good weather and water levels have cooperated.

“The lake is down where we can work on every bent (a portion of the supporting structure) that we have,” Teegardin said. “So we’re out of the flood stage so we can work on the substructure.”

According to Teegardin, work continues on each of the bents for the bridge. In total the bridge will have eight total bents, two end bents and six intermediate bents.

When working on the intermediate bents, Teegardin said traffic will be down to one lane with a flagging operation as construction crews work from the bridge. Teegardin also said work will be timed to have a minimal impact, avoiding peak traffic hours.

“Those will be done after 9 a.m. and before 3 p.m. so we don’t hit the peak times,” he said. “I also don’t think they’ll be starting those until the get the other ones done, and they’re dry.

“It’ll be just long enough to get concrete dumped over the side.”

With a completion date set for fall of 2018, Teegardin said work hasn’t hit any snags thus far.

“We’re making good progress on what we got,” Teegardin said.
