BRANSON MO NEWS: Ever ridden a roller coaster and wished your seat could also spin?

Someone must have, because the ride will soon be open for business.

Silver Dollar City introduced its new Time Traveler roller coaster this week.

The theme park called the Time Traveler the “fastest, steepest and tallest complete-circuit spinning roller coaster” in the world. Riders are literally spinning in their seats while going more than 50 mph down a 10-story vertical drop. Just watching the video can induce a bit of vertigo.

Time Traveler is expected open to the public by this spring. Silver Dollar City opens for the season March 14.

Silver Dollar City said the $26 million project is the theme park’s biggest attraction to date. It worked with Mack Rides, a roller coaster manufacturer from Germany, to design and develop the Time Traveler ride.

“This coaster’s state-of-the-art controlled spin feature provides riders a unique thrill experience while still appealing to families,” President of Silver Dollar City Attractions Brad Thomas said in a statement. “Since Silver Dollar City’s opening day in 1960, guests have taken a journey back in time with unique and world-class experiences. We strive daily to continue that tradition through our rides, our festivals, our crafts and our food. That pursuit continues in 2018 with Time Traveler.”

New amusement park coming to Branson

In other family-fun news, a new amusement park called America’s Fun Park is coming to Branson this May.

The park will feature rides, games and food.

Hometown Daily News reported in February that the park will be located on a 9-acre lot at the former location of the Branson Heights Shopping Center on Highway 76.

Throughout the year, the park will feature different themes, including a carnival theme, a craft festival, a haunted house theme and a Christmas theme.
