'Yesterday' comes to Baraboo on Saturday

BRANSON MO NEWS: There were two reasons Don Bellezzo created a Beatles tribute act and took it to Las Vegas. One was that he loved the Fab Four’s music. Another was that, in a city full of Elvis impersonators, he wanted to offer something different.“I knew it was going to be harder, because you need four guys,” Bellezzo said.On Saturday, the Al. Ringling Theatre will become the site of a British invasion when “Yesterday – A Tribute to the Beatles” arrives in Baraboo. Bellezzo and a series of castmates have performed beloved Beatles songs since 1986. Today, two casts – a resident company and a touring group – play about 100 gigs a year.
“People all remember the songs,” Bellezzo said. “They looked different. They sounded different.”

The act got a humble start, with Bellezzo playing guitar at Loyola University in Chicago. “Whenever I played a Beatles song, I got a huge reaction,” he said. “People responded to that tremendously.”
He formed a tribute group there, and later established another one upon moving to California in his pursuit of a music career. A Chicago booking agency saw the act, and began setting up gigs nationwide.The group now tours internationally, having performed …
