BRANSON NEWS: How to win a trade war. (Hint: the winning move is not to play, per War Games.) Over at FiveThirtyEight, there is a fun game letting you conduct your own trade war. Enjoy!

Dios Mio! How a nearly all-white town sought to woo Hispanics. Branson, Missouri, is like Vegas for non-drinking, non-gambling evangelical Christians. If you’ve never been, it has a myriad amount of interesting shows. But if the market doesn’t accommodate gambling and drinking … how do you attract talent? This Washington Post story delivers:

The town’s workforce development team got to brainstorming, and it struck them: Puerto Rico is part of the United States — and the island’s jobless rate is typically much higher than Branson’s.Perhaps they could make a deal: quality jobs and a warm welcome in exchange for hard workers who will consider staying.

What’s in This Week’s Issue? Editor in chief Stephen F. Hayes breaks down the latest issue.

KDW & WFB. At National Review, Jay Nordlinger has a worthwhile “personal appreciation from a friend, admirer, and colleague of Kevin D. Williamson and William F. Buckley Jr.” Media-obsessed readers are probably aware that Kevin left NR for the Atlantic earlier this month. Here’s a taste.

Kevin is happy to stand up to the Left, heaven knows. I remember one article on transgenderism that provoked howls around the world. As he proceeds with The Atlantic, there’ll be a lot of howling — a lot of it. (I think it’s started already.) Kevin is also willing to stand up to the Right, or elements of it. So was WFB, of course. Today, he is often remembered as a come-one, come-all conservative — an all-embracing godfather of the Right. This does not credit him …
