BRANSON MO NEWS: A man accused of shooting another man to death last week has pleaded not guilty.
Dakota Michael Claypole, 21, is accused of shooting and killing Daxton Drake, 22, on Jan. 16 in a home on Rainbow Drive in the vicinity of southwest Branson, but which is located outside the city limits.
The Taney County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of a shooting and arrived at the home to find Drake dead. Claypole had taken a car belonging to a witness, who is also a resident of the home, and fled the scene. He was located and arrested later by a Missouri State Highway Patrol officer at the intersection of Missouri 165 and 76 Country Boulevard.
According to an obituary for Drake, which can be seen on page 8A, Drake worked as a maintenance man at Big Cedar Lodge. He left behind two small children. A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Jan. 27 at First Baptist Church in Cassville.
The witness to the crime, who was identified only by her initials in the probable cause statement that was used to file charges against Claypole, has identified herself on social media as Drake’s fiance, and stated that the two of them were …
