Amendment approved to stop Table Rock Lake shore plan

BRANSON MO NEWS: An amendment that would stop a local shoreline management plan from moving forward by five years was approved by the U.S. House of Representatives last week and is now in the Senate.

This amendment is part of the Water Resources Development Act of 2016, which “authorizes various navigation, flood risk management, hurricane and storm damage, ecosystem restoration, recreation, or river shoreline projects” by the various U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in many states including Missouri according to a bill summary article found on congress.gov. In the wake of the Tri-Lakes Board of Realtors’ petition, that started in early August, regarding concerns of potential changes to the Table Rock Lake Shoreline Management Plan by the Little Rock District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rep. Billy Long asked for an amendment to the Water Resources Development Act of 2016 that would extend approval of the management plan and remove the halt on issuing dock permits along the lake.

A rewrite of the plan is underway. It has not has been completely revised since it was originally written in 1996, according to Branson Tri-Lakes News archives.
