Auburn story comes to stage

BRANSON MO NEWS: FORT WAYNE — Stories of growing up in Auburn drew a large contingent of DeKalb County residents to the Embassy Theatre on Saturday night.The cast of “Forever Young” entertained the audience with songs from the soundtracks of their lives.Auburn natives Josh Sassanella, Justin Sassanella and Evan Bosworth wrote the show, and the latter two performed in the five-man cast.

Two hours of high-energy singing and dancing featured tunes from the 1960s to the 21st century.The show mashed songs together in clever combinations, such as a medley of The Rolling Stones’ “Satisfaction” with Franki Valli and The Four Seasons’ “I’ll Be a Big Man in Town,” featuring Bosworth’s high tenor voice. A cappella tunes with tight harmonies included a reimagining of Johnny Cash’s hit “Ring of Fire.”The story begins with three friends in their Little League days discovering a vinyl record collection in the Sassanellas’ basement.It follows the lives of the Auburn natives and fellow cast members Brad Baker, Avilla Martin and Chadd Ruden through their teenage years and early adulthood. Their journeys led them to Branson, Missouri, where they created their award-winning musical revue that has been running for nearly three years.In the case of the local residents, Justin Sassanella played minor-league baseball before becoming a performer in Branson. Bosworth has traveled the world singing on cruise ships.

Josh Sassanella, who co-wrote and choreographed “Forever Young,” has performed in musicals on Broadway and is developing his own musical and training to become a show-business agent.The Embassy show ended a Midwest tour for the show with a dozen stops in eight states. Bosworth told the audience that an international tour could be in the works.The performers are serving as official ambassadors for the Give a Note foundation of the National Association …
