With more than 300 attending, the Hot Springs Village Animal Welfare League’s dinner and charity auction was a resounding success.The evening began with a social “meet and greet,” and anxious participants were welcomed into the Coronado Center’s main hall where more than 200 silent auction items were up for bids. Sue Luse, club president, and her committee decorated the venue and many AWL volunteers donned appropriately designed aprons to assist in the festivities.Home Plate Café catered an Italian-themed buffet, which included fresh salad, spaghetti with meat sauce, chicken Alfredo, green beans with slivered almonds, garlic bread, assorted cheesecakes and Italian cream cake.“We have over $13,000 worth of donated items for silent and live auction bidding including $1,850 in cold cash for lucky winners,” said Beverly Fitzpatrick, club treasurer and auctioneer.With Arvest Bank as the corporate sponsor, Curt Eggleston, Bob Feckler, Cor and Pat Langewis, Chuck and Carol Ralph, along with the Peterson-Chamberlains,generously met the $500 platinum paw level.Eighty contributors met the $100 gold paw level and 36 donated at the $50 silver paw status.Twelve live auction items were offered up for bidding, including two sets of vacation accommodations at Bluegrass Wilderness Club in Branson, Missouri, valued at $1,200 each.“Last year’s event brought in $17,000 and in a few days after we complete all the accounting for expenditures and revenue brought in, it looks like we’ll reach our mark again,” said Fitzpatrick.HSV’s Animal Welfare League is an all volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit rescue organization which works in conjunction with the HSV Property Owners’ Association animal shelter.
