…Billy Dean has long been known as a Grammy award winner and top country music song writer, but only recently as a Branson local. Billy has had #1 hits on the radio since the 1990’s, and has won multiple ACM and CMA awards as well. In 2013, after several years on the road accompanied by just his guitar, Billy came to Branson at Christmas time to open up The Toy Shoppe production with longtime friend Kenny Rogers. Billy fell in love with the Branson atmosphere and decided to make Branson his home.
Since then, Billy has teamed up with The Steel Horses and Jarret Dougherty to produce one of the fastest growing shows in town. From the first downbeat the audience feels the energy and charisma that exudes from Billy and his team. Songs like Billy the Kid, We Just Disagree, and Fire In the Dark get toes tapping and hands clapping, while songs like I Wanna Take Care of You and Somewhere in My Broken Heart touch the softer side of country music. When Billy shares stories about his kids growing up and sings Let Them Be Little… watch every mom in the audience reach for a Kleenex.
Sharing the stage with Billy is his award-winning band the Steel Horses. It’s hard to beat a band that’s made up of award-winning musicians! Jason Pritchett on guitar is an America’s Got Talent top 5 finalist, he and Billy smash You’re Already A Dead Man, a duet about a young gun slinger. The audience loves it! Also featured in the Steel Horses is Robby Springfield, a member of the steel guitar Hall of Fame, Matt Hanshaw (named Branson’s stringed instrumentalist of the year), Robbie Blackwood (Branson’s drummer of the year), and Steve Leach the #1 bass guitarist in town. There’s not a dull moment with these guys on stage!
Comedian Jarrett Dougherty keeps the audience on their toes, appearing as several different characters throughout the show. He makes sure everyone is in line with the latest health codes as an inspector (don’t tell the mouse in the front row…), and watch out, he might just convince you to vote for him as the next president!! But this same guy that makes you laugh out loud will also bring an audience to their feet with his patriotic tribute to our veterans.
Don’t miss the chance to catch Billy, the Steel Horses, and Jarrett at the Starlite Theater this season!!
Billy laughs and Billy sings, Billy makes the Starlite ring,
Writing songs that touch your heart, words or music, it’s an art.
Steel Horses stands beside, matching Billy stride for stride;
Jason Pritchett seems to know how to carry a Good Show.
Then there’s laughter – Jarrett D is quite the boss at comedy
(Health inspector , candidate, Ima Payne is really great).
So go and visit Billy Dean, you’ve seen him on the silver screen,
He’ll leave you singing note and bar, in Branson where he’s hung a star.
