BRANSON MO NEWS: Health department fees, marketing plans and portable radios are on the agenda for the Branson Board of Aldermen Tuesday.
The first of two scheduled regular meetings for the board before Christmas, Interim City Administrator Stan Dobbins said the meeting will begin with an employee of the month award.
“We had another life saved by the efforts of one of our employees,” Dobbins said. “Joe Edwards of the police department this time, working in an off-duty capacity. A gentleman began having a heart attack and Joe was able to utilize an automatic defibrillator to revive the man, resuscitate him.”
A first reading of a bill accepting deed for right-of-way with the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission for 76 Country Boulevard will be postponed, according to Dobbins. The board will also hear the 2018 marketing plan from the Branson/Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce and Convention Visitors Bureau.
Aldermen will also hear a proposal from the Taney County Health Department (TCHD) on adopting a series of proposed fees and fee changes.
“We’re asking for the city to increase the health permit fees through all programs,” Craig Rhoads, the environmental division manager for TCHD told the Branson Tri-Lakes News earlier in December. “The programs would be food establishment fees, the pool and spa fees, body art and massage fees and in addition adopting a lodging ordinance and having lodging fees associated with that lodging ordinance.”
Dobbins also said the city would have an opportunity to save a significant amount of money with an opportunity to purchase portable radios.
“We’ll be able to save about $300,030,” Dobbins said. “We’re basically getting a sale. We only planned on getting mid-level radios to save money, but now we’ll be able to receive top-of-the-line-radios.”
