Branson entertainer Shoji Tabuchi performing in Harrison

Branson’s legendary performer, Shoji Tabuchi, is coming to Harrison with his full band, dancers, and singers in concert at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 7, in the HHS Performing Arts Center, as part of a fundraising effort for the Harrison High School Choir. Co-starring in the show will be his daughter, Christina Lingo-Tabuchi. The family, friendly show will feature all genres of music with something in the show for everyone.For the past 30 years, Tabuchi has been performing in his 2,000-seat theater in Branson, Missouri, sometimes seven days a week and even selling out two shows a day. However, last year his theater suffered extensive fire damage and will not reopen until later this year. In the meantime, he is taking his show on the road across the United States reaching his fans in their own hometown. The Harrison show will be the only opportunity to see Tabuchi and cast perform in this area until his theater reopens. His fiddle playing has graced many stages over the years, including the Grand Ole Opry and has earned him the title King of Branson.Born in Japan, Tabuchi was introduced to music at an early age. At seven years old, his mother encouraged him to play violin. Tabuchi studied under the Suzuki Method of violin. During his musical studies, he fell in love with American country music. He was so taken with it, in fact, that he vowed to one day make it to America and become a famous performer there.

When a sophomore in college, he learned Grand Ole Opry star Roy Acuff would be coming to Japan for a concert. Tabuchi attended the show and was able to meet Acuff backstage after the performance. Acuff told Tabuchi to look him up if he ever got to Nashville. This offer inspired Tabuchi …
