BRANSON MO NEWS: BRANSON, Mo. The passage of legislation in Jefferson City could bring ride services like Uber and Lyft to many more places across the state. Some folks in Branson are especially excited.
There’s so much to see and do in Branson, but you have to have a way to get around. “During peak season, it gets crazy,” says Levine Cunningham, co-owner of The Branson Loop.
The Branson Loop transports locals and tourists alike, even offering a party bus. “I wish we could take everything, but we really, honestly, we can’t,” says Cunningham.
“Folks coming from the Springfield airport to the convention center, a lot of times, don’t have that transportation and don’t want to rent a car,” says Branson Mayor Karen Best.
For reasons like these, Branson has been working on an ordinance for ride services like Uber and Lyft since November. “We wanted to make sure that our citizens were safe, and our visitors were safe,” says Best.
They’re also focusing on regulations for licensing and insurance, and are encouraged to hear lawmakers have now passed state-wide regulations. The state measure would exempt companies from local and municipal taxes.
