Branson’s Hayter to lead Missouri’s school administrator group

BRANSON MO NEWS: Doug Hayter(Photo: File photo)A former superintendent from the Ozarks will lead a statewide group that advocates on behalf of top Missouri school officials and the funding, accountability and legislative issues they prioritize.Doug Hayter, who has been the superintendent in Branson and Logan-Rogersville, was named the new executive director of the Missouri School Administrators Association.In making the announcement Friday, association president Aaron Zalis said Hayter is a recognized and respected leader.”He possesses the vision, the integrity and the collaborative skills necessary to build capacity in others and move MASA forward as we accomplish the goals outlined in our strategic plan,” Zalis said.Hayter, in the new role, will lead the association of 900 school superintendents and central office administrators. Duties include carrying out the association’s long-range strategic plan, maintaining a strong relationship with members, providing leadership training and building allies in public education.The new position starts Jan. 1.Hayter will replace Roger Kurtz, who has worked for the association since 2000 and served as its executive director since 2007.
