BRANSON, Missouri — While growing up in the Netherlands, Johanna Johnson recalled her family of crafters, who were heavily involved in knitting and related crafts.
Now the Edwardsville resident is bringing some of that tradition to Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri, as one of more than 125 visiting craftsmen for the 1880s theme park’s National Craft and Cowboy Festival, which runs through Saturday, Oct. 28.
The festival brings specialty craftsmen from around the country. In addition to Johnson, another Madison County crafter, Pam Coppedge, of Granite City, is at the festival.
The festival is a long-running tradition at the park.
“We started this festival in 1963,” said Director of Entertainment and Events John Ancona. “It has gone through a few name changes, but the foundation of this festival is crafts, homemade crafts.”
