…my response when I hear how much someone loved B&B is… ”I knooow!” I mean, what kid’s (and probably adult’s) fondest dream isn’t to go around banging sticks on stuff for hours at a time? Two very talented guys have figured out how to do just that and then turn it into a fun, family entertaining, and hilarious Branson show!
Classic favorites like the Little Drummer Boy take on a whole new tune when played on recorders, especially through the nose! These guys can make music out of anything: buckets and boards of course, but also propane tanks or the totally cool 80’s machine! And if you don’t think that squeaking turtles are exotic enough, Matt’s facial expressions alone are worth the price of admission. The show runs from Michael Jackson to Sinatra to Disney; you’ll hear songs that you’ve known for years and plenty of songs that haven’t ever been (and probably never will be) written down yet.
As a self-proclaimed “Branson show observer,” I live for those un-scripted moments that happen sooner or later in every show. Those times when the entire crew isn’t quite sure what just happened, what happens next, or how it’s all going to fit together, but they go with it anyway. According to the amazing light and sound crew at Starlite Theatre, that kinda sums up the entire two-hour B&B show. “We never quite know what’s going to happen next…they keep us on our toes! We’re laughing just as hard as anyone else!”
What started out as two friends and a street performance has turned into Disney cruises, road shows, private function entertainment, plus packing the house during the summers in Branson. Matt Levingston and Gareth Sever will keep you laughing and tapping along to songs that you didn’t even know you knew, but ones you’ll remember for weeks to come.
They bangin’ the sticks and they beatin’ the drums,
They squeakin’ the turtles and bustin’ their thumbs.
The guys up on stage with the rumblin’ chords
Are known here in Branson as Buckets N Boards.
There isn’t a kettle that they will not thump,
While doin’ their music with many a jump.
Percussion discussion is where they all shine,
No matter the target they’ll pound on it fine.
Now Gareth and Matt are just some kinda fluke
(With dancing umbrellas or even a uke),
While playing recorders, that’s just how it goes
Despite that they’re playing them out of their nose!
They color their buckets in purple and green –
And wait till they bring out the 80’s Machine!
Or balance on pails in sleeveless pink tanks
And beat out the rhythm on old propane tanks.
You just never know what these guys will do next.
(The light and the sound guys are always perplexed)
But go and you’ll see why they win the awards;
A magical duo – it’s Buckets N Boards!
