BRANSON MISSOURI NEWS: HOLLISTER, Mo. — For the second consecutive time, the Buffalo Ridge Springs course at Big Cedar Lodge, a premier outdoor destination in the Ozark Mountains of Missouri, has been heralded as the best public golf course in the state of Missouri by GOLF Magazine in its state-by-state ranking of courses you can play. The list is a biennial ranking of the best public-access courses in each state which appeared in the September issue. Buffalo Ridge maintains its top ranking from 2014, strengthening Big Cedar Lodge’s place in the golf industry and solidifying the resort’s long-term commitment to golf.
Formerly known as Branson Creek, the course was originally designed by renowned golf course architect Tom Fazio. In 2013, the course was purchased by Johnny Morris, founder & CEO of Bass Pro Shops and Big Cedar Lodge, which ignited his vision for golf in the Ozarks. Together with Fazio, Morris redesigned the course from 2014-2015 to uncover natural rock formations, enhance existing water features, rebuild all bunkers throughout the course and highlight the natural beauty of the Ozarks. The course was reborn as Buffalo Ridge Springs in June of 2014, in advance of the Bass Pro Shops Legends of Golf.
