BRANSON MO NEWS: COLUMBUS — Darwin L. DeTurk, 88, of Columbus, formerly of Shelby, passed away Thursday, June 8, 2017, at Prairie Village Retirement Center in Columbus.Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, June 12, at First United Methodist Church in Columbus with the Rev. Cindi Stewart officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at 1 p.m. in the Shelby Cemetery. Dubas Funeral Home of Osceola and Stromsburg has been entrusted with arrangements.Darwin was born Dec. 16, 1928, in Shelby to David DeTurk and Blanche Riblett DeTurk. He attended Shelby High School and was married on May 24, 1950, to Dorothy Brigham at Rising City.
He and his wife moved to a farm northwest of Shelby in the spring of 1951, where they lived for 61 years. On Sept. 1, 2010, they moved to Prairie Village Retirement in Columbus.Darwin was a member of the Shelby Methodist Church for many years and transferred to the Columbus Methodist Church after moving to Columbus.He was in the trucking business for 34 years and also dispatched trucks for L & A Order Buyers for many years.He farmed until he was 63 years of age and then his son took over the farming and he helped his son …
