“Baywatch”: Following in the footsteps of “21 Jump Street,” another iconic ’90s television series jumped to the big screen this year with a raunchy adaptation of “Baywatch” starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Zac Efron and Priyanka Chopra (ABC’s “Quantico”). Director Seth Gordon (“Horrible Bosses”) decided to go with copious amounts of profanity, sex jokes and a few violent gags while keeping the main characters inspired by their original counterparts. The younger supporting cast (including swimsuit model-turned-actress Kelly Rohrbach) holds their own against the more established stars, and if you’re hoping for David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson to turn up, you won’t be disappointed. Nobody is going to confuse this with a great movie, but at least it knows exactly what it is, and the cast is clearly having a blast. At a bloated 116 minutes, there’s some serious dead weight here, and, if you’re a glutton for punishment, there is even an unrated extended cut available that adds an extra five minutes. Quite surprisingly, the action scenes are pretty effective and, whatever your persuasion, you’ll get more than your fair share of eye candy. (Cable and digital VOD)
