BRANSON MO NEWS: Spoofhound SoccerMaryville soccer coach Dale Reuter said before the season that he was expecting a break-out season from sophomore forward Morgan Pettlon.Four games into the season and 11 goals for Pettlon into the season, it seems safe to say that Reuter knew what he was talking about.
The sophomore who had her freshman year cut short with an injury, led the Spoofhounds to their third win of the season with six goals in an 8-0 victory in Savannah.Pettlon also picked up an assist.Addison Hall and Lydia Mitchell had the other two goals for the Hounds. Mitchell had a team-high three assists.Sophomore Laney Graham picked up her third shutout of the season and had seven saves.Maryville (3-1) will continue its season on Tuesday with a game at Northland Christian in Kansas City. Spoofhound TennisMaryville rolled to its second victory of the season with a 9-0 home win over Lafayette on Wednesday.In singles, Maryville No. 1 Peter Kempf, No. 3 Mason Walk, No. 5 Gage Long and No. 6 Ethan Stone all had 8-0 victories over their Irish opponents. Spoofhound No. 2 Chance Hermelink won 8-1 and No. 4 Cade Gustafson won 8-2.In doubles play, the No. 1 team of Kempf and Hermelink and the No. 2 team of Jaden Hayes and Patrick Baker each won 8-0. The No. 3 team of Caleb Yarnell and Mitchell Meyers won 8-1.On Wednesday, Kempf took fourth place in the Cameron Tournament. The team also played Walk at singles, but Walk was forced to withdraw with illness.Gustafson and Long went 1-2 in doubles and Hermelink and Hayes finished with a pair of tough 9-7 losses.The Spoofhounds (2-0) will continue its season with a home match with LeBlond on Tuesday.
